Tour a Dressage Barn in the Heart of Wisconsin

Located in the charming town of Sheboygan, Wisconsin lies a new equestrian retreat, designed for both beauty and function.

This stunning place, known for its outdoor charm and serene sunrises, became the perfect backdrop for our client’s dream barn. A dressage trainer, our client approached American Stalls with a vision: to create an equestrian facility that merges world-class functionality with timeless elegance.

A Custom Vision Comes to Life

The heart of this barn project lies in its custom sliding stall fronts, each designed and built to order. Every detail reflects the client’s specific tastes, and the standout feature is the beautiful arch atop each sliding stall door, exuding European charm. The arched design enhance the barn’s timeless aesthetics. To elevate the elegance further, the client selected brass finials for each stall front. These hand-polished and machined finials, were crafted in-house, and add a stunning visual appeal.

Each stall front showcases our HMH design—a striking combination of horizontal wood, mesh, and a wood shavings guard. This design not only looks beautiful but is highly functional. The mesh offers increased visibility and ventilation, crucial for airflow in the barn, while the horizontal wood section at the bottom serves as a shavings guard to keep bedding in place.

Another feature that truly sets this barn apart is the innovative French yoke design in each stall front. This elegant, polished yoke allows the client to open and close it as needed, providing the horses with the option to socialize by hanging their heads out of the stall door. This thoughtful touch emphasizes the barn’s blend of functionality and sophistication, ensuring the horses’ comfort and connection to their surroundings.

Privacy Meets Socialization

For stall partitions, the client opted for a partial privacy design—an intelligent solution that allows for optimal ventilation and social interaction among horses while maintaining the privacy needed during feeding times. This choice offers a balance between the horses' comfort and their well-being, creating an ideal environment for dressage training.

Custom Hinged Windows

While our team didn’t build the barn’s exterior windows, we crafted custom hinged window grill guards for added flexibility. These window guards allow the client to control the horses’ access to the outside while ensuring fresh air circulates. With the ability to fully open or close these grills as needed, the barn stays well-ventilated without compromising on safety.

Timeless Tack Hardware

The barn’s attention to detail extends to the tack room, which features our Roosevelt collection hardware. This includes elegant bridle hooks and single hooks that blend timeless design with everyday functionality. These thoughtful additions help keep the barn organized, while also elevating the overall aesthetic.

Sliding Barn Doors

One of the most eye-catching elements of this barn is the set of sliding barn doors that lead from the barn into the indoor arena. Built with 2” x 4” square tube framing, these doors are as robust as they are grand. Their crossbuck design at the bottom captures a rustic charm, while the glass-filled upper sections provide an airy, open feel, keeping the barn bathed in natural light.

A World-Class Equestrian Retreat

This Sheboygan barn is a true masterpiece, featuring meticulously chosen upgrades that balance modern amenities with a timeless aesthetic. From custom stall fronts and privacy partitions to elegant hardware and striking barn doors, every detail reflects the client’s vision for her personal horses. The result? A world-class dressage barn that feels both luxurious and inviting, embodying the passion and care that American Stalls brings to every project.
