FAQ'S

I don’t live in the state of Virginia. Can I still purchase horse stalls and barn windows from American Stalls?

We are located just outside Washington D.C., but our customers are all over the world. We custom build and ship our custom horse stalls across the world.

Our expert logistics team can coordinate the best transportation to help your barn windows reach your barn via the quickest, most efficient method. This applies to any domestic deliveries within the United States and even for international deliveries across the world.

What gauge of steel will my Barn Windows be? What does that mean?

The actual thickness of the steel sheet is indicated as a unit of measurement referred to as “gauge.” The rating for steel gauge may seem backward:the smaller the number, the thicker the steel. For example, 14-gauge will be thicker than 16-gauge.

We use a variety of different gauges on our products. Our Dutch Doors utilize a heavy-duty 14-gauge angle frame. All other material including cross-bucks, window yokes, and window grills all feature 14-gauge steel tubing. Rest assured, your American Stalls barn windows are built to last.

If I choose a glass design, is the glass already installed in the barn window or do I need to source it?

We offer our clients with both options! We offer our clients with the service to quote and install premium tempered glass into your Barn Windows or Shutters prior to shipping from our facility. This ensures convenience and a ready-to-install product. However, our clients also have the option to source the glass locally from a glazer who can install it onsite.

Do you offer a protective grill guard if I choose a glass design?

Yes, absolutely! In fact, our team always recommends to add bolted grillwork behind your glass barn windows. This is to ensure your horse is protected and does not have access to the tempered glass.

We can either weld the window grillwork into the frame. This then means that your horse does not have access to stick their heads out of the windows. We also offer the option to bolt the grillwork on the frame behind the glass. This allows the protective grill guard to move with the opened window.

Can you build Barn Window Shutters? Can they be filled with lumber instead of glass?

Yes, absolutely! In fact, that is one of our most popular designs with barns in coastal areas such as South Florida. We can certainly custom build Shutters which are either arched or rectangular. We can then build them with our u-channel to allow you to slide Southern Yellow Pine lumber into the channel instead of a glass-filled finish.

What latching hardware is provided with your Barn Windows?

We offer two primary pieces of latching hardware as standard in our Barn Windows:
Stainless Steel Handle: This door handle is non-lockable, but can be accessed from both the inside and outside of the horse stall.
Hold Back Latch: We provide a hold back latch that installs to your horse barn exterior. This allows you to securely latch the opened window to the barn exterior wall during nice weather conditions.

The above are two standard latching options. We offer other latching options for clients who want to explore other latches that are suitable for their custom environments.

How difficult are these barn windows to install?

Our Barn Windows are extremely easy to install into your barn. Featuring an angle frame, our hinged Barn Windows install just like a residential window. All of our Barn Windows and Barn Window Shutters are fully welded and pre-hung. This ensures that your Barn Window is ready to fit into your rough opening. Once fitted into the opening, you simply will screw the frame into your opening.
We also build other solutions for barn windows including the window grills and window yokes. These simply install with simple screw installation into you ropening.
Once you take delivery on your custom Barn Windows, your Project Manager will share precise, detailed Installation Instructions. Our Instructions include in-depth visuals, videos, and helpful instructions. We are also always available via phone call or FaceTime to asssit our clients with any real-time questions.

Will I need any equipment to unload my equipment during delivery?

Yes, our clients do require equipment to unload your American Stalls purchase from the delivery truck. Our team will communicate the necessary freight protocol and required equipment based on the purchased products.
For Barn Windows, we require forklift (or similar equipment) that has the ability to handle 5,000 lbs with 6 feet forks.
